Running Waters - Size: 6" x 6" - Medium: Oil - Available here
The morning started out very cold, but sunny, so I put on several layers, hoping my arms would bend once i got to the park. The two pictures above show precisely why Plein Air Painting (painting outside) is so popular right now. The photo (right) just doesn't show all the color and light in the scene. If you are there in person, trying to figure out what color to paint the white rocks in shadow, you actually see the beautiful color in the shadow, unlike in the photo. This is day 8 of painting 31 paintings in 31 days.
Patricia Butler loves to paint. Living and working in Austin, Texas, she is drawn to the beauty around her and the challenge of capturing the essence of the scene before her. She counts herself very blessed to be living in Austin, which is a vibrant, growing city, and, with its multitude of lovely parks and nearby lakes and hill country, it presents endless inspiration. She is a founding member of Plein Air Austin, and enjoys painting with the group any chance she gets.
