A group of us from Plein Air Austin got together to paint the Supermoon on November 14, 2016. It was highly touted as being the closest, brightest moon in decades, and won't be this close until around 2032. It was great fun as we all tried to determine exactly where on the skyline the moon would actually appear. We were in place about 45 minutes before the moonrise, we blocked in our buildings, foreground and waited, wondering if we had the correct values (the buildings were much darker than the sky when we started, but as they lit up and the sky got darker, the reverse was true. Honestly, the moon rose a little to the left of where my canvas ended, so I just had to improvise.
